Lindsay and Justin

Back in June I had the pleasure of working with Andrew and Annette Tate from 28Twenty Video. Those kids are really awesome to work with. They shot the wedding and I really didn't even know that they were there. In my opinion that makes a great videographer.

Lindsay and Justin were an amazing couple as well. I had a blast with these two.

I was excited when Andrew sent me the trailer link so I am pleased to post it for all to see.

Ketubah....

My inspiration for this blog submission is of course my wedding this past weekend. Sarah and David had a very simple yet elegant Jewish wedding and with the simplicity came a few minutes of down time for my assistant and I so I was able to actually take some time and look over the Ketubah. WOW what a beautiful amazing work of art!

I love to get a full understanding on all cultures and religions not only for my line of work but because it is so fascinating to see what traditions each one grasp a hold of. The Ketubah was a huge focal point for me. Mainly because it is so visually appealing but it is also a heartfelt contract. It is not your standard county marriage licence. This is a piece of art that will proudly be displayed in their home for eternity. I can only imagine the time it must take to find the perfect Ketubah.

During my research on the history of the Ketubah I found a few key notes I thought I would share.

Definition: The Hebrew marriage contract dating back to ancient times is called the Ketubah. The Ketubah is usually printed in a very beautiful, artistic, and creative way as a keepsake document for the bride and groom and an heirloom to pass on.

Literal Translation of Ketubah: The literal translation of ketubah is "it is written."
The Ketubah, dating back 2000 years, is one of the first legal documents giving financial and legal rights to women. (very interesting)

What is the Content a Ketubah? Most of the ketubah texts today reflect on a couple's commitment to love and honor one another, and their respect for one another.
The content of a ketubah generally also includes the date and place of the wedding, the names of the bride and groom, and their fathers' names.
Traditional ketubahs also discussed the trousseau and other financial aspects of the marriage.

Here are a few gorgeous samples of what a Ketubah may look like.

Destination Weddings out the Ying Yang!

Hey all!
So I am back from Jamaica and well rested and regrouped.
I want to talk about Destination Weddings because during my stay in Jamaica for 6 days I witnessed 17 weddings! THAT IS INSANE! 17 weddings all on the same resort all at the same location! To me I was sickened by this mass production of weddings. Mainly because in my opinion no wedding should be like the next but what I saw was 17 weddings with different brides maid dresses. It was horrifying to me as a planner. Where was the creativity?
Okay I am guilty I did the resort destination wedding. BUT mine was not a big production! Yes I wore the dress (what girl doesn't want to wear a wedding dress once), but it was just my husband and I, no bridal party. He still laughs at me to this day because I ran to the gazebo we married in. So I like to run I can't help it I am NOT a slow walker under any circumstances. I do not even think that my legs can do a slow walk. I love running so why not run. It was my wedding. My consultant kept telling me to slow down. I felt like punching her! Hello! I am fine this is my wedding and my job I am capable of doing this myself thank you very much. Mass wedding producer person. ANYWAYS back to my point...
Many couples think that doing a destination wedding is a great way to save money. I would like to make it clear that it is NOT a great way to save money. In the end you wind up spending just as much, if not more on a destination wedding than what you would having a small intimate wedding here at home. Some people just want to have a wedding on the beach or away from home. That is great and a destination wedding is just what you need. If you are on a tight budget and want to save money a destination is not always the way to go. Little things ad up and here are a few to name;
1. Guest gift bags (they came this far to witness your wedding YES you need to give them something)
2. Travel cost (for your dress) Airlines are now charging you for your bags and additional items.
3. Hotel
4. Save the dates

The following items are things you would pay for whether you are here or there:

1. Location (church or beach it is never free)
2. Officiant
3. Marriage licence from the location you are marrying in. (check laws before booking! Some locations outside of the USA require you to be a resident for 60 days!)
4. Hair and Makeup
5. Cake
6. Reception
7. Rental Items. (especially beach weddings, Chairs, aisles and arches do not come on the beach you have to rent them.)
8. Decor
9. Back up plan! It rains often in tropical settings. Are you prepared?
10. Music for ceremony and reception.
11. Photographer
12. Invitations
13. Floral

Those are just to name a few so you get the idea. It is easy to create an amazing intimate wedding at home and still have money for the honeymoon! You have to think outside of the traditional church and reception site for cost saving locations and ideas.

Norman Chapel

Okay so Saturdays wedding location was simply amazing. I love Norman Chapel. I have been there a number of times but each time it still amazes me with its beauty. I love stone buildings (FYI my house is stone) there is something about it that is just awesome. I am not sure if it is the texture or the story book feeling it gives, but I love it. This chapel was built in 1880 and most is still original. It is just stunning. Plus when you say hey we are getting married in Spring Grove Cemetery people always raise an eyebrow like WHAT! The setting is so not cemetery though.
So anyways enough of my Norman Chapel ad and on with the vendors....
I was very fortunate this weekend. I love cool vendors and that is exactly what I had. Who to start with they were all so fun..
Ceremony location: See above. ;)
Reception Location: LaQuinta Inn and Suites Sharonville: The staff there were pretty easy to work with they tried to accommodate every request I had for them and god knows i had a TON.. Thanks Jayson and Bill.
Proverbs Cafe: Provided lunch for the bridal party and it was so good. If you have never had their pretzel salad than you really need to. Alan did a great job putting together this lunch for me.
Florist: Courtenay Lambert Florals: Once again an amazing job. All the girls flowers were stunning and I snatched two bouquets that are proudly sitting in my foyer. Who on earth can throw those away!
Photographer: Reece Booth: What a cool guy and his wife Angela is sooo cool as well. I really had fun with these two characters. I can not wait to see the finished product. Reece and Angela are the cutest couple ever and newly weds! Congrats kids..
Videographer: Iconography, Jason and Ben. Jason was a total trip. I loved working with him. He has such a charming personality, and may be almost as sarcastic and witty as I am so that could be fun.. I will be excited to see his video of this wedding. He did a great job all night long. I look forward to working with him again.
DJ: Maize Music; David was the DJ and he did a great job as well. You can see he loves his job he is a funny kid too.
A Taste of Class Catering: Food was good, Staff was friendly and on time.
All Occasion Rentals: Last minute linen needs they were there. Awesome.
Jerry's Cheese Cake: Do I really need to give a review.. haha.. Okay so I LOVE Cheesecake and since they opened Crumbs I can see I may turn into a "Bigger Girl" If I don't stay away from that place. Their icing is amazing.

I hope I didn't forget anyone.. SO all in all as you can see my vendors rocked! It is always great because once the party is winding down it is fun to kinda hang out with them.

So Thanks for all of your really hard efforts and I am sure awesome work.

Cool Cakes...

I loved this idea at the Turfway Park Wedding. Sasha Maslov took these photos and they turned out super cool. I wish he did more weddings.
This was like the sugar rush side of the tent. First we had a load of Tortes than we had the Candy Buffet! Oh girls just a word of advice please be careful when having sweets outside. The bees were ridiculous.
